In January 2025, the Hollywood Hills West community was gripped by fear and uncertainty as wildfires swept through Runyon and Nichols Canyons.
With over 50 hours of power outage, mass evacuations, and a neighborhood in distress—hope could have felt out of reach.
But right in the heart of the chaos...
CMO Hollywood Hills West sprang into action.
“Responding with heart. Acting with purpose.”
CMO opened its doors—and its heart—to the community.
Evacuating neighbors.
Providing shelter.
Delivering warm, nourishing meals to seniors, families, and first responders.
In the darkest hours—literally and figuratively—CMO was a shining light.
A friendly face.

A listening ear and helping hand to everyone in the community and beyond, regardless of membership or affiliation. Support Groups, Adult Education, Hebrew School, Aleph Champ, Generations United Seniors & Volunteers Program, YJRP Young Jewish Professionals Group, CTeen Group, Shabbat and High Holiday Events, Life Cycle Services, and so much more. Bringing the joy of Judaism to the local neighborhoods and gathering our community together.
**Just over this past year, thousands of people have been assisted, affected, touched, inspired, and uplifted by our Programs and Initiatives. **

750 Singles attended our creative Singles Programs
1500 + attended our Chanukah Events
* 100s of Holiday Kits, Bags, Boxes have been delivered with all the essentials of the Holidays of Pesach, Shavout, High Holidays, Sukkot, and Chanukah. Seder Kits, Shavout in a Bag, Chanukah in a Box....
* 650 Challah, and Chicken Soup for the Soul, and Shabbat 2 Go Dinners, and Meals distributed to Seniors and Community members, first responders, and those in need and those who needed to evacuate because of the Wildfires nearby in Wattles Canyon, Runyon Canyon, and Nichols Canyon, in early 2025
* More than 160 Events, Programs and Classes with thousands of attendees
1000s attended our delicious and inspiring Shabbat & Holiday Dinners & Kiddushes & Passover Seders
800 + attended our High Holiday Events
260 Mezuzot affixed and distributed
10 adult and baby Brisim facilitated
Dozens of Life Cycle events performed and officiated.

**This year is our 26 Year Anniversary. **
Thank Hashem we can look back proudly over the last quarter century plus at the many accomplishments and successes we have had. Building, nurturing, sustaining and growing an organization, with its myriad programs, and services, is not an easy task, however thanks to your committed support, and friendship we have achieved a tremendous amount of community building and institutional infrastructure. However, the most precious commodity we have is you our dear friends, and constituents, the lifelong relationships, and bonds formed, have lasted well into our third decade of care, and concern for all of you, whom we were entrusted to reach, and teach, guide, and lead, and being there for you in your moments of need, and urgency.
It is immensely gratifying to officiate at the Chupah of a former Hebrew School student and Camper! Celebrating a Bris, and Upshernish (third year old ritual haircutting ceremony) with the second generation, highlights the success of the twin goals of Jewish Continuity, and Observance. Visualizing the fruits of hard labor in seeing the Jewish pride, and excitement apparent in Shabbat, and Holiday events, kids, teens, adults, programs, and classes, and in Mitzvah observances, is priceless!
All that said, The Rebbe taught us that we cannot rest on our laurels. We have so much more to achieve, build, and impact. We are excited to look forward to the future, eager to roll up our sleeves and get to work building our community even bigger, better, and stronger than ever!
